So I have another post in drafts about the Hunter's Star quilt, but I just got a new thimble and I'm very excited about it! I bought it from Liu Xin, the self-styled thimble lady and it is so cool! Some interesting things to note. The thimble still had crud on the inside (probably the… Continue reading Brand New Thimble!

Open toe foot and the Case of the Secret Garden
Thanks to CotSG, I've actually tried some hybrid piecing, though on the hunters star first. I love the idea of being able to use both machine and hand piecing, BUT I have a preference for hand sewing. I love its precision and portability. I like watching TV while sewing quietly. On the other hand (haha!),… Continue reading Open toe foot and the Case of the Secret Garden
Meanwhile, back at the Alabama Chanin ranch
I'm considering the replacement of the two lightest blocks with brighter colors. If you look closely, you'll see I've inserted two candidates from my stash. Unfortunately, I have to go to work, so I'll have to make my decision and do my printing when I get home tonight. In the meantime, my commute is all… Continue reading Meanwhile, back at the Alabama Chanin ranch
Apple Core Quilt Completed!
Last time I posted this quilt, I was this far. And then I spent the weekend making up bias binding. With Karen's helpful tutorial on finishing the binding, it is done!! Feast your own on the finished-ness below!
Beginning another baby quilt
I'm still finishing the binding on the first baby quilt, but couldn't resist making a start on the next one. It's going to use the Hunter's Star 12" Inklingo collection and in rainbow colors since I don't know the gender of the forthcoming child. I spent the evening doing all the printing and here's the… Continue reading Beginning another baby quilt
COTSG: Clue #3 in progress
Cutting out my shapes.
New combo for the Inklingo Mystery Quilt
After some feedback, I think I'm settled on this combination. I tried it with the reds, but I think the complementary colors of yellow and oranges provide a nicer and greater contrasting accent. This is how the combo works with the red option:
Alabama Chanin Swing Skirt
So last year, there was a sale on some DIY kits at Alabama Chanin and I just couldn't resist ordering the swing skirt. I chose peacock fabric and slate thread. I've sewn the first panel (out of four), and have just started to cut out the centers. Three more to go and a mystery quilt… Continue reading Alabama Chanin Swing Skirt
Long overdue update!
I'm in the middle of quilting my applecore baby quilt and it is coming along nicely. I decided to echo quilt in one direction which is great because I don't have to mark it! Hopefully, I'll be done with the quilting in the next couple of weeks and onto the task of binding!
Another progress shot
Forgot that I took this photo! This was taken while I attached the outer corners to the flower part of the New York Beauty.
Intersections
One of the things I love most about Inklingo is the accuracy of the sewing that is achievable! To be able to get perfect intersections like this is so gratifying!
